Dunsmuir to Alumafandango

The Alumafandango event took place in Canyonville, Oregon September 2nd-7th. I participated with the Los Angeles Airstream Group in a caravan to the event. The journey would take 3 days. For the first leg of the caravan some of the Airstreamers would meet up at Kitt Fox RV Park in Patterson. In typical fashion I had rubber on the pavement by 4am. After a few rest stops I pulled into the park around 11:00am. Even though check in is much later Mike got me settled into my site #102 and I had finished lunch and was taking my nap by afternoon. This is definately not a destination park but more a clean, safe place to lay your head for the eve. Late afternoon a few other trailers trickled in and by evening we had a happy hour in the group room. Our wagonmaster reviewed the route for the next day and it was time for wine and cheese. It was a wonderful evening. The next leg of the journey 298 miles would land us in Dunsmuir for 2 nites. This a small town at the base of Mt. Shasta with a little downtown filled with antiques, historic buildings, water fountains supplied by the creek and a community garden.**PS** Nancy said dont drink the water! We stayed at Railroad Park Resort which is located on a small creek. Next time I will make sure to get a creek site. The park was cute, combo of full & partial hookups, green and pretty but sites were a lil to close for my liking. We all enjoyed eating wild berries, relaxing in the creek and a hamburger dinner in town at Yaks Cafe & Microbrewery. Note to self next time get a spot along creek.
